The Egyptian army have given the Muslim Brotherhood 48 hours to sign up to political reconciliation which will run out Saturday.
The ultimatum ups the ante in the country already on edge after the uprising against Islamist president Mohammed Mursi. The army chief has already called for rallies to give the army a popular mandate
to take action against “terrorism“ and “violence” on Friday.
The Muslim Brotherhood denounced the speech as a call for ‘civil war’.
Pro-Mursi supporters continue to fill the streets calling for the deposed leader’s return in apparent defiance of the army’s threat.
